NEWSLETTER Issue: 3.01

HEAD'S VIEW
I would like to wish everyone in the Newbridge community a very happy new year. I hope you all had an excellent Christmas break and, judging from the pale faces and bleary eyes last Thursday, I suspect the celebrations lived up to expectations!

The term has started well and the girls and boys have impressed us all with their attitude to work and play. We welcome Mrs Karen Briggs who started this term as teaching assistant in the lower school. She feels very much at home as her two children, Sophie and Sarah, are former Newbridge students. We wish her well as we do our four Norland nurses who started this week. They are Camilla Caplin (1HO), Anna Gent (2GB), Ashley Stephenson (Willow) and Rachel Drouin (1H). I am sure that we will all benefit from their training in school.

Extra curricular clubs start this coming week and this gives me a chance to say how fortunate we are to have so many staff and parents who are willing to give up their time to run what is an excellent clubs programme. There are not many schools that have such a range and quality. I would also like to thank Mr Cumpson and, before him, Mrs Hansard for coordinating the programme ……. not the easiest of tasks! Mr Cumpson has asked me to bring the following to your attention:

Multi skills club is Year 1 and 2 only (max 20 places).
Mrs Martin's Dance Club and Mrs Haysom's Advanced Recorders have no new vacancies.
Intermediate Recorders will continue after Mrs Rutland returns on 22/01/08.

The lower school PE sessions in the upper school hall are part of the PE curricular programme and not run as clubs.
In future, letters relating to clubs run by outside coaches will go out at the same time.
Clubs for this term will end on Friday 28th March

HEADLICE!
This is a constant problem in schools up and down the country. Please check your child's hair regularly and treat accordingly. As a school, all we can do is bring it to the attention of parents / carers in a particular class when we are made aware of headlice. We are not at liberty to take any further action. We ask that all parents in a class check and treat, otherwise the problem persists and it becomes very frustrating for those who do check regularly and treat when needed.
